A Welcome from Pastor Jamaal Simpson
Dear Friend,
Thank you for stopping by. Whether you're looking for a church home, healing, or a fresh start, I want you to know—there’s a place here for you.
I’m Pastor Jamaal Simpson, and I have the honor of serving as the founding pastor of The Least of These Outreach Ministries. This church was born from a deep burden to reach those the world often overlooks—the broken, the weary, the forgotten. We believe church should be a place of refuge, not performance. A place where people experience God’s love, not man-made judgment.
At The Least of These, we are committed to living out Matthew 25:40—serving Christ by serving others. Our mission is simple but powerful: to love God, love our neighbors, and create space for healing, discipleship, and spiritual growth.
No matter where you’ve been or what you’ve been through, you are welcome here. We don’t have all the answers, but we serve a God who does—and we’d love to walk this journey of faith with you.
Grace and peace,
Pastor Jamaal Simpson
Our Pastor
Pastor Jamaal Simpson
Founding Pastor, The Least of These Outreach Ministries
Pastor Jamaal Simpson is the founding shepherd of The Least of These Outreach Ministries, a Spirit-filled, non-denominational church rooted in mercy, shaped by Scripture, and led by the Holy Spirit. Born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland, Pastor Simpson is a proud graduate of Walbrook High School. He attended Morgan State University and served honorably in the United States Marine Corps Reserve—experiences that instilled in him a heart for service and a discipline for leadership.
His introduction to Christ came early through the Bible stories his mother read to him and his siblings. But it wasn’t until a summer program at Cornell University that his personal relationship with Jesus began. Invited to a Bible study by a classmate, he gave his life to Christ that night, was baptized soon after, and received the gift of the Holy Spirit. Not long after, God gave him a dream revealing his future as a leader of His people.
He began ministry in 2013 as a Deacon at Excellent Way Ministry Outreach. But in 2015, he entered a deeply painful chapter of his life. In the midst of a divorce and having drifted from the church, he fell into a depression so heavy that he submitted to psychiatric treatment. Upon arriving in the unit, he quickly realized that he was blessed to have some semblance of a sound mind compared to many of the patients around him. Unable to have much with him because he was on suicide watch, he asked if someone could bring him a Bible. As he began reading the Word, something shifted. He grew stronger each day—so much so that he began encouraging others during group sessions, offering hope, and even talking with some about Christ. In one of the darkest places imaginable, the light of God's love broke through, and healing began.
Before his hospitalization, Pastor Simpson had opened his home to brothers who were homeless or seeking refuge from toxic environments. Following his release from the hospital, he faced housing instability of his own. After attending a doctor’s appointment and simply sharing about the goodness of God, he was unexpectedly given a stipend—down to the penny—that covered the exact amount of rent he needed. The staff had no idea he was about to be evicted. It was a powerful reminder: God sees, God hears, and God provides.
That season of brokenness became a foundation for deeper compassion—but the seeds were already there. That commitment only deepened after his recovery, as he continued to share meals, offer encouragement, and walk alongside others in need.
He was ordained an Elder in 2018 and became a Pastor in 2023. As an associate pastor, he became increasingly burdened by a church culture that often prioritized tradition over transformation and left the overlooked behind. That burden led to the birth of The Least of These Outreach Ministries—a church committed to loving God and loving neighbor without walls, barriers, or conditions.
Though not seminary-trained, Pastor Simpson is deeply rooted in the Word and led by the Spirit. His life spans a wide range of experiences—from poverty to public service, hardship to leadership—all of which shape a ministry that is honest, compassionate, and Spirit-empowered.
Often described as having “a heart like David”—passionate, humble, and obedient—Pastor Simpson leads with both conviction and care. He is a proud father to two daughters, Nadine and Natalie, and believes the Church must return to the core of Christ’s teaching: love over legalism, people over programs.
When he's not preaching or serving, you’ll find him cheering for the Ravens, visiting museums, exploring nature, or traveling with a heart open to God’s next assignment.

Our Assistant Pastor

Elder Dequone "CJ" Washington
Elder Dequone “CJ” Washington serves as the Assistant Pastor at The Least of These Outreach Ministries, where he ministers with boldness, compassion, and a powerful testimony of God’s redemptive grace. A native of Baltimore, Maryland, Elder CJ is a graduate of Southern High School and a former Semi-Pro football player for the Baltimore Nightmare. While his early life was marked by hardship and the lure of street life, his story is a living witness to what happens when a man encounters the mercy of God.
Once a drug dealer navigating the dangerous streets of Baltimore, CJ’s life took a dramatic turn when he was shot at point-blank range—and miraculously, not a single bullet hit him. In the aftermath, he cried out to God, asking for a new life and a wife who would stand by him in faith. God answered that prayer in full, sending him his beloved wife, Deaconess Markita Washington.
Together, they endured a challenging eight-year battle with infertility. It was during this deeply personal season of waiting that Elder CJ drew even closer to the Lord, entering what he now calls his “crazy faith” phase. Hungry for more of God, he once asked Pastor Jamaal Simpson—then Deacon Simpson—“How do you praise God like you do?” The response changed his life: “Just be grateful for what God has already done, and lose the people in the room. Don’t worry about what they think.” From that day forward, no one has been able to stifle Elder CJ’s praise. His worship became both louder and deeper, rooted in raw gratitude and unshakable trust in God. In 2020, their long-awaited breakthrough came with the birth of their first child, followed by another two years later. Today, he and his wife are the proud parents of three beautiful children: Micah, Allen, and Grey.
Elder CJ began his ministry journey at Excellent Way Ministry Outreach, where he was appointed as a Deacon. After a season of personal and spiritual refinement—during which he was sat down from ministry—he pursued a deeper relationship with God. Through a miraculous series of events, he was installed as an Elder in 2021. Since then, he has faithfully served in a variety of leadership roles including Head Deacon, Head Elder, Bible Study Teacher, Counselor, and Armorbearer. Now serving as Assistant Pastor under the leadership of Pastor Jamaal Simpson, Elder CJ continues to walk in humility, strength, and obedience to God’s call.
He brings not only wisdom from lived experience, but also a deep passion for the next generation. As a youth mentor and professional working with students, Elder CJ urges young people not to follow the destructive path he once took. Instead, he uses his testimony to guide, encourage, and inspire them toward purpose, faith, and integrity.
Known for his authenticity, magnetic humor, and heartfelt preaching, Elder CJ has a unique way of connecting with people across all walks of life. Whether delivering his favorite sermon—“Check Your Inventory”—or simply making someone laugh when they need it most, he leads with love, conviction, and a desire to see lives changed by the power of Jesus Christ.
If people say Pastor Jamaal has the heart of David—passionate, worshipful, and after God’s own heart—then Elder CJ has the heart of Peter: bold, loyal, unfiltered, and redeemed. Like Peter, who once cut off ears and later helped build the Church, Elder CJ’s journey from street “goon” to Spirit-led leader is a reminder that no past is too far gone for God to transform.
